Understanding the Meaning of Pounamu
Pounamu carries deep cultural meaning in Aotearoa, and many people feel unsure about what is appropriate.
In this workshop, we work with small pieces of pounamu/greenstone to create personal, everyday jewellery such as rings or pendants.
Pounamu is commonly gifted or worn as a symbol of:
• protection
• connection
• aroha (love)
• remembrance
• strength and grounding
It is absolutely okay to wear pounamu you have purchased, received, or shaped yourself.
Many people today choose a piece they feel personally connected to or create a meaningful gift for someone they love.
If you have your own piece of pounamu, you are welcome to bring it (up to 30mm), or select one from my collection.
Pricing
$320 per person
Couples rate: $580 for two
Same price applies to both:
✔ Make-it-yourself workshop
✔ Custom-made option
Who This Is Perfect For
A meaningful Christmas, birthday or anniversary gift
Couples wanting matching pounamu jewellery
Anyone wanting a personal piece of NZ greenstone
Beginners wanting to learn silver fabrication
Those who prefer custom-made jewellery instead of attending a workshop
